This policy covers Flipbee: Sight Word Flashcards for iPhone and iPad ("Flipbee"), a flash-card app for practicing sight words made by Avocado Orbit LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). It explains what information Flipbee uses and why.
The short version:
Flipbee does not ask you to create an account. It does not show ads, and it does not use analytics, advertising identifiers, tracking pixels or third-party tracking tools. We do not sell or rent any information, and we do not build profiles of you or your children.
The things you add to Flipbee, such as your kids' first names, word lists, decks and practice progress, are stored on your devices and in your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. We can't see or access this data. If you invite family members, the data you choose to share is shared with them through iCloud. You can stop sharing, or delete the data, at any time from within the app or your iCloud settings.
Progress tracking (which words were practiced and when) is stored only in your family's iCloud.
When you use scanning, or paste a list to have Flipbee find the words, the photos, PDFs or text you choose are sent securely (over HTTPS) to our server, which uses Anthropic's AI service to find the words and turn them into cards. They are processed only to create your cards and are not stored by us after the request is complete. Anthropic processes the files only to provide this service under its commercial terms; it may keep them for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring, and it does not use them to train its models.
Please avoid scanning pages that include personal information you don't want processed, such as a child's full name; the scanner is designed to skip names and similar details.
When you look up a definition, the app sends only the word and the reading level (for example, "said" at first-grade level). No names, progress or device identifiers are included. Definitions are generated once and saved on our server so they can be shared with everyone who looks up the same word.
Subscriptions are purchased and managed by Apple. We never receive your payment details. When you use a paid feature, the app sends us Apple's signed proof of your subscription so we can confirm it is active. We use it only for that check and to apply fair-use limits, and we don't link it to you as a person. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Like most online services, our server keeps short-lived technical logs (such as the time of a request, which feature was used, and whether it succeeded) to keep the service secure and working. These logs don't contain your files, word lists or children's names. IP addresses are used briefly to prevent abuse and are not used to identify you.
Flipbee is designed to be used by parents and caregivers together with their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Children don't create accounts, and the app has no chat, social features, ads or tracking. Information such as a child's first name is entered by a parent and stays in the family's iCloud. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us at support@avocadoorbit.com and we will delete it.
Data sent between the app and our server is encrypted in transit. We keep what we handle to the minimum needed to run the features described here.
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app.
